Tert-Butyl methyl ether offers significant advantages above the potentially dangerous diethylether to the organic and analytical chemist on the bench.

• the higher boiling point of tert-Butyl methyl ether preserves the performance of your chromatography column even without a cooling setup!
  • As a result of the exotermic reaction between the silica of the column and ethers, the use of diethylether with a boiling point of only 35°C without cooling is not recommended whereas tert-Butyl methyl ether only boils at 55°C.
• Safer handling and storage: no peroxide formation!
  • Opposite to diethylethers or THF, tert-Butyl methyl ether does not show the tendency to form hazardous peroxides, and is therefore easy to handle and store.
